MOIRA + GABOR // MARRIED IN THE HUNGARIAN COUNTRYSIDE
An American girl from Seattle, living in L.A. A Hungarian boy, living in South Africa. And somehow, within this great big world, filled with so many people and so much chaos, these two managed to find one another. Several years ago, all the moments in each of their lives lined up and lead them to be at Kruger National Park on the very same day. Their hearts met on safari, underneath African skies, and instead of watching the lions and elephants through binoculars, their eyes were on each other. The girl eventually moved to Johannesburg to be with the boy and it is there that they have created a life together. A few weeks ago, family and friends flew from all over the world to the Hungarian countryside, to throw their hands up and celebrate this amazing couple. The wedding was a week-long party, an epic experience, a celebration that I am still remembering in lightning-flashes. There were open fields and green-canopied walkways; stables full of horses and Hungarian folk dancers; walls decorated with vintage plates and sunbeam-afternoons. Moira and Gabor said I DO and everyone cried and cheered and danced because it was a moment unlike any other. She wore gold-pink sequins, and he dipped her at the end of their first dance. There were platters of meat, a DJ that sang along to the hits, candles on the tables and dancing under rainbow-colored lights. The party lasted until dawn and the newlyweds were still up when the moon faded from the purple sky. Before the sun came up, they were still celebrating and attempting to send paper fire-lanterns up into the last bit of night still scattered with star dust. Moira and Gabor are beloved–people flew from all corners of the globe to be with them, rejoice with them, and be a part of the unbelievable magic that they have created.
