BE AWESOME TODAY. // PORTLAND
I recently had the great honor of photographing my dear friend Lupine and her extended clan in thier amazing house in the woods.
Her family was in from out of town to celebrate thanksgiving and they were all cozied up and the fire was going and the house was full of cheer.
In this group were: daughters, grandparents, cousins, aunts, sisters, husbands, wives, and uncles. It was amazing to see all the family love goin’ down.
Outside, the rain was coming down hard and the trees were shiny with drops. They spent the morning drinking coffee, spinning
in chairs, watching the leafless trees outside their gigantic windows, laying underneath skylights, sitting around the table,
reading books, and lounging on the couches. It was dark and cold outside, but we followed the light.
There is a sign on the wall of Lupine and Dan’s house that says: be awesome today, which is kind of exactly what is this family is: awesome (everyday day).
*Lupine is co-owner of super-rad sewing studio in NE portland: Modern Domestic. (go here to check out the M.D. website).

I love to look at your work. I am so inspired by you! I wish my husband and I lived in Portland, instead of DC, so that we could get our photos taken by you. You’re awesome!
Incredible. Your blog is a great source of creative inspiration.
these are great… nicely done, lady.
I love it when you cut off the heads and take the photo in black and white. I don’t know why, but I find it really fascinating; it leaves you imagining these people more than if you see their faces!
