one + one + one = three.
Once upon a time, Sawyer lived in my belly. He was a speck then a jellybean, then a golfball, then a cantaloupe. When I saw him for the first time, I wondered what star he had fallen from; what planet he had been quietly orbiting before making his way into my arms. His cheeks were round and his eyes sparkled and he watched me as if he had always known we would be together. Over time, he has grown a head of untamable hair and a wild passion for throwing balls. He wears his Mexican soccer jersey like a uniform and he has an uncanny sense of rhythm when he claps his hands. At 11:45 tonight he will officially turn three, and when I look at his face (with his impossibly long dark eyelashes and his raspy little voice) I am in awe of the boy standing in front of me, and I can hardly believe that this man-child was ever the size of a jellybean…

Oh my oh my can he really be three? Seeing his evolution in these photos make me cry and laugh. What a wonderful world it is with Sawyer in it.
